Porsche considering a production version of the Panamera Sport Turismo concept

Porsche showed off its new Panamera Sport Turismo concept at the 2012 Paris Auto Show and the vehicle received much applause and appreciation from visitors and industry experts alike. This has apparently persuaded the automaker to consider releasing a production version of the vehicle soon. The strong design of the concept vehicle means that people looking at it will either love it to bits or hate it with all their might.

The distinctly divisive styling of the vehicle, however, could be just the bonus on the vehicle that could set it apart from other vehicles in its segment. The vehicle is likely to get a few more styling upgrades before it is launched as a serious production vehicle. According to Bernhard Maier, the marketing chief at Porsche, there is a strong likelihood of a Panamera concept based vehicle being put into production soon thanks to the positive reviews the concept evoked in Paris.

A handful of new features showcased with the concept are also likely to be featured in the new Panamera sedan including a more enveloping, cleaner looking interior, tail lamps derived from the design featured on the latest 911 model and headlights borrowed from the current Boxster. The new Panamera derived from the latest Sport Turismo concept is most likely to be ready for showrooms sometime around 2017.
