Skoda Superb's Ambition entitles a 1.8 liter turbocharged engine for its petrol variants. Precisely equipped with a TSI technology, this engine is coupled with a six speed synchronized gearbox. This power source is mounted transversely under the hood and the front wheels form the driving agents. Powered by 16 valves DOHC technology, this engine has the capacity to crank up a maximum power of 118 Kw at the speed of 4500 to 6200 rpm. Its peak torque is rated to be 250 Nm at the speed of 1500 to 4500 rpm. On the other hand, Ambition's diesel variants are equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine which is also supported by 16 valves DOHC technology. With a displacement capacity of 1968 cc, this engine could generate a maximum power of 103 Kw at the speed of 4200 rpm with a peak torque of 320 Nm at 1750 to 2500 rpm. Unlike the petrol variant, Ambition's diesel vehicle comes with an automatic six speed DSG that has a Tiptronic manual gear changing system.
On the first glance, Superb's Ambition variant resembles similar to its top end variant, Elegance. But, Skoda has amazingly pulled out some of the superfluous features, and replaces them with comfortable accessories. A second glance at the vehicle's exteriors could immediately help viewers to identify the change on the vehicle's wheels. To be precise, the manufacturer has integrated a new alloy design for this variant. Apart from the wheels, the vehicle's bi-xenon headlight system has been replaced with halogen projector lights. Unfortunately, retractable headlamp washers were excluded from this variant.
Advanced safety features like hill hold control, electronic stability control, parktronic sensors and tire pressure monitoring system were also ripped in Ambition. Fortunately, the manufacturer retains the significant safety attributes that include airbags, anti-slip regulation, electronic brake-force distribution, traction control system and anti-lock braking system which is highly laudable. Sophisticated accessories like electric sunroof and 6 CD changer audio systems were slashed down in this affordable variant. To add up, Superb's leisure driving mode i.e. Cruise Control has also been excluded in Ambition. Users, who had already experienced Skoda Superb's top end variant, may feel quite uncomfortable with this variant. However, Superb Ambition cheers the new users with its mind-boggling style and sophistication.
To everybody's surprise, Ambition withholds the limousine look of Skoda Superb for which the vehicle was highly acclaimed, right from its launch. The modified alloy wheels express a plausible feel for the vehicle's exteriors. Skoda Superb's front fascia retains the brawny look of its elegant version. Superb's stupendous front grille portrays the manufacturer's unique style that could also be found in many other Skoda cars. Wide fog lamps, definitive headlamps and accentuated hood lines not only captivate with its design, but also helps the aerodynamics of the vehicle significantly. In fact, it's quite difficult to differentiate between Superb's Ambition and Elegant variants from their exteriors.
