Switzer Performance tunes the GTR R1K-X to be more comfy and super powerful

The regular GTR R1K-X is a pretty good sports vehicle in its own right though it isn’t the most passenger-friendly by any stretch of the imagine. To make the model a little more comfortable, Switzer Performance gave it an outstanding and thorough tuning job which resulted in a stunning performance upgrade for the model as well. Dubbed the Red Katana by its owner, the GTR R1K-X comes with a custom interior that offers the model creature comforts comparable to Ferraris and Porsches.

To make interior more driver- and passenger-friendly, the model was fitted with a high-end audio system, all its tactile surfaces were covered with high end materials and quilted leather inserts were added. This of course added an extra 300 lbs to the weight of the stock car but to counter the additional weight, the model was given an engine upgrade.

Reinforced pistons and rods were used in the Nissan-sourced and- Switzer built VR38 engine which was also given CNC-machined cylinder heads and matching Switzer-specific cams. An SS90 exhaust system, a cooling PKG and a Monster intercooler system manages the temperature in the engine while a standalone tuned Syvecs ECU manages the hardware.

The conversion allows the model to deliver over 1,400 horsepower with a max speed of 165mph. the model also travels up to a quarter mile in just 8.8 seconds. The new aerokit on the Red Katana includes a new rear decklid spoiler, a new front splitter, a lightweight carbon hood and a new front bumper cover. The model was also given a two-tone paint finish to go with the retouched interiors.
