Volkswagen Bus-themed Bunk Bed is the grooviest kiddie bed ever

We don’t know what is it about this VW camper that makes us wanna yell out "Hello Wisconsin!" like Danny Masterson/ Rick Nielsen did at the end of credits in That 70s Show, but this Volkswagen Type 2-themed bunk bed sure evokes a lot of fantasies. Created by Instructables user Uptonb for his 3 year old nephew (his brother is having a house built) as a housewarming present, the project was indeed a labour of love from a guy who definitely goes down in our book as 'Uncle of the Year'.

The VW themed bed may not be more than a groovy nursery accessory to the little boy, but for the boy’s father who is a huge Volkswagen fan, the funky bunk bed surely must have drawn a tear or two. Made using just $500 in materials, the interior of the VW Bus Bed serves as a playhouse for the boy though it can also fit in a single mattress for when the kid is old enough to have friends sleep over or for when he gets a sibling.

For now the interiors of the Bus are bare though its creator is busy at work trying to build bench seat futons for it. Over at Instructables, Uptonb has put up a downloadable step-by-step on how you can build one of these for yourself and there is also a Sketchup file for you to download and put up in a virtual model of your house to check for proportions.
